Opening Concert: Timo Lassy, Teppo Mäkynen & Minttu Mustakallio

Jyväskylä Festival opens with a multi-art concert consisting of music from saxophonist Timo Lassy and drummer Teppo Mäkynen, as well as environmentally themed texts interpreted by actress Minttu Mustakallio.

Timo Lassy and Teppo Mäkynen have been known as the leading figures of the new generation of Finnish jazz since the beginning of the century. During the last few decades they have collaborated in several notable groups, but in this concert the cutting-edge musicians take to the stage as a new duo, delivering a versatile, thrilling performance ranging from spiritual free improvisation to intense groove, and everything in between!

Minttu Mustakallio is an award-winning actress, who has charmed audiences with her celebrated performances on the stage as well as in TV and film. In 2020 she played central roles in productions in the Finnish National Theatre, Svenska Teatern, and Helsinki City Theatre.
